Praised by orchestras for his inspiring musicianship and expressive technique, British conductor Angus Webster is one of the most promising musicians of his generation. In February 2020, Angus made his debut with the Philharmonia Orchestra conducting performances of Brahms’ Symphony No. 2 and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3, Eroica. Highlights of the 20/21 season include Angus making his debut with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in Brahms' Symphony No. 4 as part of their digital season and with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in their small ensemble series. Angus will also assist with Glyndebourne's production of Mozart's Così fan tutte in Summer 2021.

Born in 1999, Angus learned his formative lessons about music from Elena Needham, Tim Boulton, and musicians at the International Musicians Seminar, Prussia Cove in Cornwall. Following studies in piano, viola, and chamber music, Angus received joint top prize at the Panula International Conducting Competition in 2018 and was chosen to become one of the first Salonen Fellows at the Colburn School in Los Angeles where he studied with Esa-Pekka Salonen and Ludovic Morlot. Angus has since returned to the UK and is studying with Alasdair Beatson at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

Angus is also a dedicated chamber musician and regularly collaborates as a pianist with chamber ensembles, quartets, and soloists from around the world. (September 2020)
